The STRIDE Study
Chronic Social Stressors and Biological Embodiment of Risk in Breast Cancer Mortality

Did you know that Black women experience much higher breast cancer mortality than any other race/ethnic group in the US? Despite extensive investigation, the known causes do not adequately explain this mortality gap. The purpose of this study is to evaluate the influence of societal stressors on breast cancer disparities. Our study will provide the first thorough prospective evaluation of the distinct influence of societal stressors, above and beyond other racially pattered risk factors, on breast cancer disparities in a large, diverse cohort. Our work will be helping to inform clinical and public health mitigation strategies.

New Publication!

Our team has found a new way to measure the negative effects of racism. You may be familiar with structural racism and interpersonal racism, however, there is another measure - cultural racism. Read about it in our latest publication: A New Latent Measure of Cultural Racism and Its Impact on US Mortality and Life Expectancy.
